1. Factors aggravate acne

 1. Increased male sexual hormone during puberty

2. Prevention of acne

 1. Face washing: Washing face, at least 2 times a day using soap,
                           will be appropriate

 2. Shampooing: Lots of sebaceous glands in scalp can cause acne,
                        so wash the hair frequently

 3. Skin care: Be careful in using cosmetics, steroids

 4. Exercise: Regular outdoor exercise will be good

 5. Stresses: It will influence on the secretion of hormone,
                   so alway try to be pleasant and positive.
3. Acne and make up 20

People with acne usually secret lots of sebum, so it will be effective to use soap with strong sebum-removing function. But the weather of winter in Korea is cold and dry, use less strong sebum-removing soap in winter to prevent skin to be dry and rough.

Cleansing which contains a lot of oil will aggravate acne.

It is important for the people with acne use moisturizing lotion properly. In winter lotion with much oil(eg. milk lotion) should be used, and in summer lotion with less oil(eg. skin lotion, astringent) should be used.

Foundation and cosmetics should be avoided. Do not let the foundation remain on your face. At home don't use such cosmetics.
4. Acne and diet

Basically balanced diet are important but drink much water.

Avoid too sweat food such as snakcs and cholcolates, and fat rich diets such as fried food, and Chinese food.

Constipation will be bad for the acne so such people have to consume a lot of vegetables.

Vit B2, B6, C will be good for the skin
Vit B2 accerelates growth, involved body metabolism nd containd inmilk, spinach, seaweed, and eggs
5. Treatment of acne

The principles of treatment are to delay the production of sebum, to remove hyperkeratinized and dead skin and kill the bacteria.

In mild acne, to decrease the sebum, to remove the keratinized skin and to use the salicylic acid or benzoic peroxidase and resorcinol for bactericidal purposes are therapeutic strategies. It will take 6 to 8 weeks to be effective.

In severe acne, more potent drugs such as isotretinoin or retinoic acid, which are the derivatives of vitA are needed. They should be used daily and it also takes several weeks to be effective.

Isotretinoin should be avoided while pregnant or in reproductive aged women without proper contraception.

Sometimes, antibiotics should be administered in severe cases and vit A, B6, E are used complementarily.
